Amazing Hampi.

14-19 January 2013.

Before we came to India I would spend a lot of time looking at travel websites and flicking through various books and I had a good idea of where we were going to go and what we were going to see. Like the Taj Mahal, Hampi should be on every India visitors list. I was so glad that this was a place that I didn't investigate or even know what it looked like as this made it's impact even greater. As the bus from Hospet made it's way through the countryside my eyes and smile grew wider! There's more about Hampi here and here. Below is the view from our guesthouse roof top towards the Virupaksha temple.

The photos below are all from the bazaar area which is easily walkable. There won't be many words in this posting.....the photos say it all I think!

One day we took a walk to the waterfalls area where the rocks had been eroded quite beautifully.

We ventured further afield to the Lotus Mahal at the Zenana Enclosure.....

This is where you will also find the Elephant Stables and Watchtower....

Below are photos taken from Anjeyanadri Hill.....

Below is the Vittala Complex and Stone Chariot....

These pictures can only really give an idea of the scale and beauty of the place. If you get a chance to visit you really should. We were there for six days and it was only just enough. I may put some more photos on another posting.
